Nov 29, 2019 1:03 PM

Arsenal view Mauricio Pochettino as a candidate to replace Unai Emery as their next manager.

Pochettino was recently sacked by Tottenham.

It is not known how Pochettino would feel about the approach due to the rivalry between the two clubs. He has previously stated that he will not manage Arsenal or Barcelona due to his previous affiliations.

Arsenal Fires Unai Emery As Manager

Nov 29, 2019 9:05 AM

Arsenal has fired Unai Emery as manager and installed Freddie Ljunberg on an interim basis.

Emery replaced Arsene Wenger 18 months ago.

In a statement Josh Kroenke said: “Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.

“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required. We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward. The search for a new head coach is under way and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.”

Mikel Arteta, Massimiliano Allegri and Nuno Espírito Santo are considered potential replacements.

Luis Enrique Calls Out Robert Moreno For Disloyalty

Nov 27, 2019 12:49 PM

Luis Enrique opened up about why he fired Robert Moreno from his national team staff, saying Moreno had been disloyal to him.

"I feel obliged to give more explanations than I would like, because this controversy has been generated by someone who worked with me for many years. I had a meeting with Robert Moreno on Sept. 12. It's the only contact I've had with him. We met for 20 to 30 minutes at my house. It was clear he wanted to coach at the Euros. It wasn't a surprise, I saw it coming, I understand -- he's ambitious. But for me it was disloyal," said Enrique.

Enrique temporarily left his position after his daughter was diagnosed with cancer, with Moreno taking over.

Spain president Luis Rubiales said that the arrangement was clear that Enrique could return when he was ready.

Jose Mourinho Rules Out Possibility Of Spurs Selling Harry Kane

Nov 22, 2019 8:50 PM

Jose Mourinho said there is no way Tottenham Hotspur will sell Harry Kane.

"When you try to buy Kane it's an impossible mission. He's one of the best strikers in the world.

"You just need his team -- England or Tottenham -- to go with him to the next level. What's the next level? Titles.

"I think he needs to win with us, with England, he needs to win something to highlight the quality that he has as a player, the goals he scores, what he brings to the team."

Pochettino has already been linked with Bayern Munich.

Solskjaer added that he enjoyed having Jose Mourinho back in the Premier League.

"It's good to have Jose back. Especially for you guys [the media] and maybe for me, so you can talk and write about everything else. You like Jose coming back it's going to be a spectacle and a circus."

Mauricio Pochettino Nearly Left Spurs Before 19-20 Season

Nov 21, 2019 11:06 AM

The staff of Mauricio Pochettino was surprised when he returned to Tottenham Hotspur after his summer holidays, according to sources.

Pochettino was very open to leaving Spurs before the start of the 19-20 season, but he stayed in the job because he didn't get an offer from one of the few clubs he would have considered.

Pochettino's sights were on Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, but none of those jobs became available. Pochettino has previously said he would never manage Barcelona due to his allegiances to Espanyol, but even that job is now in play for him.

Pochettino did not want to come to a "mutual consent" arrangement and would only leave Spurs if it meant he'd immediately join another club or if Daniel Levy fired him.
